Welcome to UTV Takeover – The largest Offroad event in the country!

Where is Area 21 located?
Area 21 is referred to as our East Pod Camping. We refer to a “East Pod” as a group of self-sufficient trailers camping overnight on the beach. The East Pod area is located just east of the Sandpit Campground at the end of Sand Hollow Road on the east side of the existing lake. This area is a mix of gravel and hard pack dirt. Its location is great for people looking to be near the lake but a little further from the main event area.

How much are the East POD camping passes?
Each Pod camping pass is $225.

How many days are the East POD camping passes good for?
Each pass is good for six days and five nights starting at 12pm MT on Tuesday, October 14th through 12pm MT on Sunday, October 19th.

How can I purchase East POD camping passes?
Camping passes can be pre-purchased through our website by using the link on this page. If East POD camping passes do not sell out before the event begins, passes can be purchased at the entry gate when you arrive.

Does my East Pod camping pass purchase include any event entry wristbands?
No. East Pod Camping passes and wristbands are sold separately. We did this to keep the cost as cheap as possible and wanted to make sure each participant only had to purchase what they needed.

How can I purchase event entry wristbands?
You can pre-purchase wristbands through the website up to the week of the event or purchase them at the gate for $75. We recommend purchasing them through the website to help reduce wait times at the gate. The $75 wristbands now includes all 5 days of the event and access to the state park. Once Inside the event ALL events are rides are FREE.

Do I need event entry wristbands to access my campsite?
Yes, please be aware everybody in your vehicle will need event entry wristbands to get through the entry gate to access your camping spot. Wristbands are $75 per person through the website or at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free! New this year, the park entrance fee is now included in the $75. No more paying to get in the park and then paying again to access the event area.

When can I check into the East Pod campsites?
The event starts at 9am MT on Wednesday but you can check in starting 12pm MT on Tuesday, October 14th. Unlike previous years there is NO additional charge to set up camp on Tuesday!

When do I need to check out?
All participants are asked to clean their sites and check out by 12pm MT on Sunday, October 19th.

Does each vehicle in my group need a vehicle pass or just the vehicles pulling trailers?
Yes, each vehicle will need a vehicle pass. Each East Pod camping pass comes with one vehicle pass. Each additional vehicle is considered a new camper and will need an additional East Pod camping pass for an additional $225. We have a land-use agreement with the State Park that only allows a certain number of vehicles in the event area at any given time. We monitor the number of vehicles by limiting the number of passes we sell. Vehicle passes will be checked at the gate before entering the event area.

Will a dozer be available?
There are NO dozers in the pod area. There are three main entrances to the East Pod all of which are gravel. The main POD area is mostly gravel with a mix of hard pack dirt and is easy for any style camper to drive on.

How do I access my East Pod campsite?
Area 21 can be accessed from Sand Hollow Road. Once participants arrive at the event gates, you will be greeted and guided to the East Pod camping area. We have created a staging concept that will accommodate fifteen 40’ trailers at any given time where participants can safely air down their trucks and trailers before entering the beach. There will NOT be a dozer available in this area. Participants will be asked to enter the beach under their vehicle’s power similar to any other weekend throughout the year. Our dedicated security team and dedicated traffic control team will be available throughout the event to offer assistance and answer any questions.

Does my East Pod campsite have utilities?
No. These are dry camping sites located on the beach. You will need to supply your water. We recommend filling your tanks in Hurricane or at the Westside Campground located in the park. The Westside Campground has four dump stations and a water filling station that can be used before accessing the event area. Gray/Blackwater is not permitted to be dumped on the beach. If you need your tanks dumped during the event, we will have a septic service company you can call for a small fee or you can head over to the Westside Campground location just 1/2 mile away.

Are campfires allowed in Area 21?
Campfires are allowed on the sand. Participants are asked to dig a hole for the fire and fill it in at the end of the event. We asked participants not to throw cans and garbage in the campfire. NO glass is allowed on the beach! Any unused firewood remaining at the end of the event must be taken with you when you leave. Please help us leave Sand Hollow better than we found it!

Are there dumpsters near the East Pod campsites?
Area 21 will have access to 20-yard dumpsters located throughout the area during the event. These dumpsters will act as a disposal site for any participants camping on the beach while also providing additional capacity for the state park.

Are there restrooms/showers in Area 21?
Area 21 will have access to portable restrooms located throughout the area during the event. Campers are required to be self-contained similar to any other weekend. Showers are NOT available in Area 21.

Is there a campground host in Area 21?
Areas 21 will NOT have a Campground Host; however, this area will be monitored throughout the day by our UTV Takeover security team with assistance from the local Parks Service and Sheriff.

Do I need a permit to fly a drone in Sand Hollow?
Yes. Contact Sand Hollow State Park for the permit. 5-day permits ($15/ea) are required to fly drones within the state park. Violators are subject to citation.
