All About Birds: Birding for Beginners – Pequea, PA
Don’t miss this upcoming event in Pequea, PA. Happening on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Clark Nature Preserve. Doors open at 9:00 AM.
Join us for a morning walk to explore the world of birds and birdwatching while out on the trail. You will learn to identify a variety of species that visit our local natural areas while using binoculars, field guides, apps, and of course, our own eyes and ears. We’ll also discuss the vital role that our wild spaces have in protecting avian diversity and how we can continue to provide habitat that is crucial for species survival. There will be ample opportunity for Q&A, so bring your burning bird questions and your enthusiasm for all things bird related.
What to Expect: This event will take place outdoors. We may walk on the universally accessible Lloyd Clark Trail as well as on additional trail areas that may contain uneven surfaces and some elevation changes. There is a port-a-john on site. This event is recommended for ages 10 and up (participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
Where to Meet: At the Clark Nature Preserve trail kiosk, just past the yellow gate
What to Bring: Bring binoculars if you have them. A small notebook, pen/pencil, and a smartphone for app instruction are recommended. If you have a field guide that you prefer to use, feel free to bring it along. Dress appropriately for the weather, including rain/snow layers and waterproof boots. Bring water and a snack.
Event Leader: Sarah Gotwols, Volunteer Coordinator with Lancaster Conservancy and resident bird nerd, is a Lancaster County native who has spent countless hours observing birds in their natural habitat along the Susquehanna River.
