Alexis Cole Presents: Performance and dialogue, the Music of Gigi Gryce – New York, NY

A prolific vocalist, Alexis Cole performs Gryce’s beloved  tunes, including “Social Call” and “Music in the Air,” alongside  rarely heard lyrics to his lesser-known gems. Cole produced over a  dozen albums and draws comparisons to jazz legends such as Sarah  Vaughan and Anita O’Day. Pianist Brandon McCune and Haneef  N. Nelson on trumpet will join this performance. Jazz historian and  author Noal Cohen co-authored the only known biography of Gigi  Gryce and will provide historically correct information about the  artist, ruling out rumors that have circulated for decades.
